Carlos Felipe Ignacio Espinosa v Lyubimets 2007

The claim of the Chilean player, Carlos Felipe Ignacio Espinosa, against the Bulgarian club, Lyubimets 2007, represented by Georgi Gradev, was only partially accepted by FIFA. Whilst FIFA partially granted the player’s request for outstanding salaries (from September to December 2011), it rejected it with regard to nearly one and a half salary (September and nearly half of October 2011), which was set-off against the purchasing of an air ticket by the club for the player to fly home, as well as FIFA entirely dismissed the player’s claim for compensation for breach of contract.

Notably, the club was ready to settle the case from the outset of the proceedings at FIFA for a sum that was twice higher than the one adjudicated by FIFA, but the player refused the settlement.
